ABOUT

In a world where shadows and shame can often feel overwhelming, the journey toward healing and resilience shines as a beacon of hope. Through this book, Ever After Foundation and our 24 co-authors want to educate, empower and bring awareness to a subject that has been normalized since the beginning of time. In doing so, our brave co-authors have come forward to be the light others need in their darkness. This book invites you to explore the transformative power of inspiration, showcasing stories of individuals who have faced profound trauma and emerged stronger on the other side. Through their experiences, we’ll uncover the strength that lies within us all—the ability to rise, rebuild, and redefine our narratives, all because of some piece of hope that is still somehow left inside of us.

Here, we delve into the moments of darkness that often precede the light, illustrating how vulnerability can pave the way for growth and connection. Please be prepared while reading this book to understand some of the evils of humanity as well as the most awe inspiring and purposeful reasons as to why we as humans exist. As you turn these pages, you’ll find not just tales of struggle, but also the profound lessons of courage, hope, compassion, and the indomitable human spirit. We wrote this book to inspire others out of their darkness and to do so with humility, kindness and a sense of hopeful purpose. We are healers, Warriors, protectors. We are also your moms, sisters, aunties, grandmas and other beloved family members. These courageous Warriors and co-authors, by their actions, are showing we can do better for and by each other and it all starts within. Together, let’s embark on a journey of healing, reminding ourselves that no matter how deep the scars, the potential for renewal and joy always exists. Your story is still being written, and hope is waiting to be discovered.

We are our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers. You are too.

JOJO RIMMER

CO-AUTHOR

  • Hello There World!

I’m excited, terrified and inspired all rolled up into one huge, magnificent mass of positivity infused humanness! From an introverted, 89 lb. crack-induced, hot mess of a human being to a “Warrior4All Life” to an extrovert filled with compassion for humanity and the plights of a variety of life journeys. I am who I am because I’m not someone else. For this I am grateful.

While you figure that part out; here’s a few highlights of what fuels my passion for humanity as a whole.

I’ve worked tirelessly within at-risk populations over 24 years by serving as a “stealth mode community advocate” which has included:  Enhancing lives within my community with resources, donations and referrals to assist with getting their lives back on track. There has been a dire and ongoing need for food, shelter and clothing for the homeless, providing alternative life skills training and advocacy to assist those with substance use disorders and mental health issues, ensuring individuals affected by domestic violence and crimes have a voice and shoring up individuals and families to become the healthiest members of our communities they can be under any given set of circumstances.

Former Executive Director of Family Services for a nonprofit homeless shelter; San Joaquin County Court Liaison Recognition; Co-Author and birth mother of “Ownership Life Skills Training” taught by my best friend within a criminal rehabilitation setting for the past 20 years; Substance Abuse Counselor (CCAPP Certified-CADC-I); Current Substance Abuse Program Supervisor at San Joaquin County Behavioral Health Services. Public speaker for at-risk populations across the realm of humanity and spreading my Queen Wings within this magnificent work.

We are not broken and not all things broken remain so. Fix it, even if it means starting with self. This is who I am at my very core. I was born in “The Quarters” in Sugar Land, Texas and raised by the good, bad and the ugly of my life experiences. Who knows where the next chapter leads. There’s always a next chapter.
